Nilo-Saharanische-Sprachstudien sind eines der dynamischsten und innovativsten Forschungsfelder in der Afrikanistik. Neben der Präsentation einer großen Anzahl an Sprachgruppen, individuellen Sprachcodes und Sprechweisen, erstreckt sich die Nilo-Saharanische Sprachfamilie über eine enorme geographische Breite, die etwa von Nigeria im Westen bis Äthiopien, Kenia und Tansania im Osten reicht. Der vorliegende Sammelband möchte die gegenwärtigen Denkansätze sowohl zu Modellen des Sprachwandels und Beschreibungen der phonologischen, morphologischen und syntaktischen Strukturen als auch soziolinguistische und pragmatische Merkmale dieser Sprachen darstellen.
